Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly measure principal dimensions in a short time, by correctly detecting the position of a pipe end by an end face position-detecting plate and measuring the thickness and inner diameter simultaneously with parallel arms and an inner diameter-measuring arm. SOLUTION: A pipe A is stopped by a pipe end position-detecting plate 3, and fixed in position by a brake cylinder 3E. The upper and a lower positions of parallel arms 6 and an inner diameter-measuring arm 9 are controlled in accordance with a type of the pipe A. A stage 10 with the arms 6, 9 is moved towards the pipe A. In consequence, a pipe wall of the pipe A is held between the parallel arms 6, and the inner diameter-measuring arm 9 is inserted into the pipe. During the insertion, a pipe end position-directing sensor 5 of the stage 10 generates a pipe end detection signal when passing a position of a detection projection at a side face of the pipe end position-detecting plate 3. A distance-measuring sensor 7 and an inner diameter-immersing sensor 8 are actuated at once based on the signal. A total circumference of the pipe A rotated by a cooperating roller 2 is measured. Elements of the pipe spaced by a constant distance from the pipe end can thus be correctly measured at once.
